My friends always wear shimmery eye make up (usually silver) and it looks great! I've seen it around in stores as well. But all I know how to use are mascara and eyeliner... how can I apply shimmery eye make up without making it look like a clown did my make up? To make matters worse, I also happen to be single-lidded. Stephanie Woo
Darling, you won't look like a clown - all you need is some practice at home before you unveil your new look. Aim for lighter shades of silver rather than darker and then you can apply layers and be more in control of your look. Use a eye shadow brush and concentrate on colouring the area just above the upper eye lashes. Then leave a gap and apply the same colour to where you feel the skin cover the top of your eye ball. Then shade this area, creating the illusion of a crease or lid. Lift your head up and down to see from all angles in the mirror. Then blend the two areas if colour into one keeping the middle area slightly lighter than the first two sections. If you want an extra pizazz put some shimmer silver in your innter eye corners and some white shimmer just under your eyebrow arches to further frame your eyes. Enjoy the fun and power of makeup and get practicing!
My skin is really oily at the T-zone area but rather dry at the cheeks , and there are skin flakes on my cheek area. So, it's really hard for me to find the perfect makeup, my friends told me not to use face powder, is it true? Is there anything which can soothe the flakes on my skin while not leaving my T-zone area oily? Raqeeqah Salim
Combination skin can be a bit of a balancing act - I know as I also have it! The reason your friends say not to use powder is probably because it is catching in the flakes and making them more obvious and 3D. Lightly exfoliate the area (not too rough please) to remove the dry skin and use a non oily moisturiser all over your face. When you wash your face don't use aggressive anti oil cleansers containing alcohol on the dry area as it will make it dryer. Then rather than using powder try the blotting papers you can get from Body Shop. This will suck the oil up without leaving a residue. You may have a form of eczema if they dryness continues, so perhaps go and see your doctor.
Recently i bought a wrong colour foundation, the foundation i bought is slightly lighter than my face and neck and after applying it, my face is lighter than my neck. What can i do to make my face look more natural or darker? Raqeeqah
Choosing the right colour of foundation can be tricky. In dept stores they often rush you for a quick sale and worse still, look at your skin tone in artificial light - a big no no. So, I suggest next time you apply some of the colour to your cheek or forehead, then go outside and look in your own compact to see how the colour suits you. You should also apply foundation a little to your neck too in order to blend it in. The right colour will 'melt' into your skin rather than just 'mask' it. Fake tan applied lightly can be an excellent substitute to lots of foundation as it helps to conceal blemishes and gives you a 'lift'. Choose a pale colour as you don't want to look to dissimilar to your regular look. Have fun!
I have very sensitive skin meaning when I apply moisturizers to keep my face looking fresh, they break with out with the moist from the moisturizers. However, If I dont apply any, my face becomes the Sahara desert. What do I do?! I want to ensure I have a smooth and silky skin look to my face for prom! Please help!
Yes, skincare can be a bit of a balancing act! Begin by developing a well balanced base. Exfoliate with a gentle scrub and warm water to ensure any moisturiser can actually do its job. Then go for a oil free moisturizer such as Perfect Potion's Balance Moisture Gel at Sasa. Aim for a gel rather than a cream, as this will be less greasy and won't move around the skin as much. Don't apply too much and massage it in thoroughly so it gets to work. Throughout the day use oil sucking papers to keep the skin matt and absorb shine, such as those at The Body Shop. I suggest you use a translucent powder applied with a brush - i.e. from Bobbi Brown, to keep the face smooth and drier.
I heard once that wearing a stick concealer/foundation stick dries out your face making it possible to see that you are wearing makeup up close and gives a snake-skin look. YUCK!
However, some say that wearing a liquid foundation as a base makes your skin look smooth and fresh. Is this true?
Since summer is coming up, I was wondering if I wore a liquid base on my face, would the heat from the sun make it all melt and sweaty? Are there possible ways to avoid my makeup from melting or looking dry?
Hong Kong is a hot and humid place so you cannot expect beauty products to perform miracles and keep you perfectly dry at all times. Instead, opt for an umbrella, or a hat and stay in the shade or a/c. As for makeup, I recommend liquid makeup applied by clean fingers or by a sponge. Keep the layer as thin as possible and really pat it into the skin. Tissue off the excess. Then dust on a light veil of powder to keep things sealed. Foundation sticks are great for covering spots and redness, and don't need to be applied elsewear. Remember, stay cool!

Hi! I was wondering what make-up I should wear for prom. I'm 15, my skin is pale and sort of yellow, and I have black hair. I have a single eyelid, small eyes, and a round face. I can't seem to find any make-up styles that suits my face. I'm trying to match the make up with a medium dark purple dress. Can you suggest me some make-up that I can useor a beauty salon that is cheap, as I have never used make-up before. I also want the look to be natural but quite obvious that I have used some make-up as well. HELP! and THANK YOU in advance!:D
Oh yeah, i have advantage in my face though, that's my really long eyelashes! and thanks again!

I have really dry hair but not frizzy, it's more like wavy. I tried doing hot oil in the hair salons but it doesn't really seem to help. What can I do that is cheap and effective?

What do you think about eyelash tinting? Where is good? Then can you do without mascara? Thanks!
