What is foundation actually for? Does it makes a big difference if you don't use it? And is there a different between the cream ones, the powder ones and the spray ones? Caroline

Foundation can make a huge difference to your complexion. It can even out your skin colour, disguise blemishes and make you look fresher and less tired - if applied correctly! For young people tinted moisturizers are the best as they are thin enough to let you radiate you own natural beauty - try The Body Shop's Vitimin E Tinted Moisturizer. Creme foundations can vary from giving a light sheer appearance such as Lancome's Teint Renerge Lift through to heavier looks which can be less flattering. I dont recommend powder foundations as they can look too matt, unnatural and less 'skin like'. Spray foundations are a great idea, however the present formulations can be very tricky to master. Stick to the ones above instead for a natural look!

I sweat easily by a little rise of temperature. Especially my armpits and back. Summer comes. My t-shirt often damps with sweat. It's really annoying. I'm embarrassed and less confident in front of my friends. Could you help me to find a suitable antiperspirant without strong smell? Sherry

Hong Kong is a sticky place so do you best to stay shower fresh all day. Try a shower gel that is antibacterial such as The Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil formula which leaves you sanitised. Dry yourself thoroughly before dressing and change clothes once or twice per day. Then stick to cotton clothes, checking labels carefully in shops that you are not buying polyester which can be very hot. Rexona Cool White Antiperspirant deodorant reduces sweat and neutralises any bad smells. Don't be too embarrassed about this as perspiring is natural and healthy.

I have a problem, more like a habit of biting nails. They are really short and look disgusting and very gross. Are there any ways I can get rid of my habit? I have heard there is a "bitter-tasting" polish...does something like that reallly exist and is it helpful? Saloni

Beauty comes at a price and sometimes that price is discipline. You must stop chewing now mostly as you are placing bacteria into your mouth and this will greatly increase your chances of illness, coughs, sneezes - even diareah! - yuk Focus you mind and when you feel yourself lifting your hands take a deep breath and put them down and think of the germs. Clean, tidy nails are a reflection of your health and make you look presentable and professional. If you are really stuck Helen at The Feel Good Factor which specialises in helping people grow their nails recommends 'Nail Bitter' from LCN which tastes bitter and repels you from biting. You can do it!

I have puffy eyes, dark circles and when I take pictures my eyes are always very yellowy-orange. i've tried to use MAC concealer, but it doesn't really work. Is there any cream or anything else I can do to my eyes to take away the yellowy orange rings around my eyes permanently? Elle

Hmm, first thing is to get some extra snooze time, make sure you are getting eight hours per night. Then, go to the pharmacy and buy some iron tablets as you may be lacking this which can enhance dark circles. Bobbi Brown have some excellent concealers. Apply after foundation, not before using a soft brush. Then pat it into the dark areas, layering rather than adding too much at once. Select the right colour for you, Sammy at Faces in Ocean Terminal is very experienced with concealers and can he help you to choose the right one which is crucial. Maybe also speak with your doctor and have a chat about your overall health if you are still worried about it. Good luck!

I get 8-10 hours sleep every night, but when I wake up in the mornings, i have big black bags under my eyes, please can you suggest using a cream or ointment to get rid of them. Natalie

Big black eyes bags are really annoying so lets try and solve your problem. First, I want you to go to your doctor for a check up and make sure you are in optimum health. Keep your diet very healthy with lots of fresh green vegetables containing iron. Many cremes will promise to reduce you eye bag, however, if you want my honest advice, none of them will eradicate them. So the aim is to reduce and disguise! Makeup wise start with foundation and then onto concealer, one colour lighter than the rest of the face. Apply a white light highlighter on your lids and in the inner corner also as this will detract from the darkness. Dont use any black eyeliner, instead use white inside the inner lids as this will make you look more awake - there is one from Shu Umeara or some cheaper ones in Bonjour.

Hi! I was wondering what make-up I should wear for prom. I'm 15, my skin is pale and sort of yellow, and I have black hair. I have a single eyelid, small eyes, and a round face. I can't seem to find any make-up styles that suits my face. I'm trying to match the make up with a medium dark purple dress. Can you suggest me some make-up that I can useor a beauty salon that is cheap, as I have never used make-up before. I also want the look to be natural but quite obvious that I have used some make-up as well. HELP! and THANK YOU in advance!:D

Oh yeah, i have advantage in my face though, that's my really long eyelashes! and thanks again!

I have really dry hair but not frizzy, it's more like wavy. I tried doing hot oil in the hair salons but it doesn't really seem to help. What can I do that is cheap and effective?

How does a woman get a spotless and blemish-free back, so that she can wear backless dresses? Help!

What do you think about eyelash tinting? Where is good? Then can you do without mascara? Thanks!
