I've got a thick lower body. What kind of exercise is most effective for getting rid of fat on my legs and bottom? Giselle
The first thing to remember is that all body types are beautiful and that you should always focus on your positives as then others will also be drawn to the better parts of you and are less likely to see your less favourite attributes! I suggest you do 20 mins cardiovascular activity 3 times per week minimum. This could be aerobics (which is what I do as it is fun) or perhaps dance, running, basketball, netball - this burns fat and will in time reduce any thickness. To tone the area you can do lots of sqats and plies. You must eat lots of fresh vegetables, drink water and cut out all fizzy drinks and fried foods. In about three weeks you should start seeing a difference and you will look and feel great. In the meantime start looking at your posture, stand tall and it adds the impression of length to your body which makes you look taller and more lean. Give it a try and write back.
I have a lot of pimples and black heads on my nose. It tends to get red very easily. I want to use foundation but my parents say it's for covering wrinkles what other things can I use that wont damage my skin and would help make it better? Michelle
Foundation can help to cover both wrinkles and spots, however really what you should be aiming for is something to reduce the spots and blackheads in the first place. As a teenager your hormones are changing and some spots are a natural reaction that in time will fade. The main thing is to keep your face very clean by using makeup remover and then washing your face with a gentle cleanser. Then you may want to use any astringent toner to soak up any remaining oils. Once a week exfoliate and also use a clay mask to absorb impurities. If you do use makeup then use oil free versions and apply with clean fingers and not dirty sponges or brushes. Then make sure you remove it thoroughly before bedtime. Apply foundation first, the concealer on spots by patting in with clean fingers. Then lightly dust powder on top to keep it set all day. Keep your skin makeup free as much as possible as air is good for your skin. If you spots are too much to tolerate then try Medicskin on 25269333 as they specialise in teen skin.
I always put a clear base coat before putting solid colors on my toenails but whenever I remove the nail polish, my toenails become yellow, and chapped, and the surface is always ragged. They become so ugly that I feel embarrassed showing my toes in public, so I cover them up with clear nail polish. But the dilemma is that the condition of my toenails become worse every time. I saw my other friends putting black nail polish on their toes for a long time (without the base coat) but their toenails are always as healthy as ever. Is there any easy treatment to cure my toenails? Sophia
It is good that you have written to me and want to solve this problem rather than simply covering the yellow up with polish, well done! You are right to always use a base coat to protect the nail as this often causes staining. From the symptoms that you describe I suspect you may have a fungal infection. This is caused by bacteria forming and in a humid environment such as HK this is very common. Firstly, do not share any of your polishes, files etc with your friends as you may pass the fungal infection onto them. Thank you for highlighting this issue of nail hygiene as people don't realise that you must be very careful with sharing nail instruments. Secondly, go to a pharmacy and show them your toenails and ask them to recommend you an anti fungal ointment. Wear flip flops to get air to your feet daily and follow the full course of the treatments. Thirdly, go to your doctor as yellowing toenails can be a sign of other health matters and they should check you out. Good luck!
I have oily skin - not only around the T-zone, but on my chest and back. It causes the pores to clog and form white and black heads, and sometimes even pimples! It also feels rough on the surface. What can I do to get rid of the unpleasant dirt in the pores and the roughness, using as few products as possible as I'm a student with limited pocket money to buy cosmetics? Fiona Wong
Your oiliness is very likely being caused by hormones that come from becoming an adult so please understand that this is a normal reaction and that you are not alone! However you can do lots of things to help. Firstly, start eating less oily and spicy foods and this affects your skin. Focus on fresh vegetables cooked with less oil and unfried. Also cut out all fizzy processed drinks and instead drink lots of water to flush the toxins from your body. Then you must reduce your body heat so perhaps think about doing cupping or acupuncture at a local practice. You can make a thick face mask out of oatmeal and water, put it on your back and face to absorb oils and to exfoliate the skin. Wash your face with a soap free cleaner twice per day and use an oil free moisturizer. Let me know how it goes for you as I want to help.
I have dry, sensitive skin and autumn is here. Normal lotions ha vent seem to work. What type of homemade facial mask will be perfect to help moisturise? Helen
Dry weather mixed with aircon are a perfect recipe for dry scaly skin. It's fun mixing your own masks at home and you also get to know what is actually going on your face unlike with regular products. You should use a mixture of white and pink clay blended with jasmine water and one drop of rose oil. The consistency should be sticky and gooey like a cake before baking. This will leave your skin peachy to the touch rather than stretched and tight. DK Aromatherapy on Staunton Street stock all of these items and also teach classes on how to make your own home beauty products.

Hi! I was wondering what make-up I should wear for prom. I'm 15, my skin is pale and sort of yellow, and I have black hair. I have a single eyelid, small eyes, and a round face. I can't seem to find any make-up styles that suits my face. I'm trying to match the make up with a medium dark purple dress. Can you suggest me some make-up that I can useor a beauty salon that is cheap, as I have never used make-up before. I also want the look to be natural but quite obvious that I have used some make-up as well. HELP! and THANK YOU in advance!:D
Oh yeah, i have advantage in my face though, that's my really long eyelashes! and thanks again!

I have really dry hair but not frizzy, it's more like wavy. I tried doing hot oil in the hair salons but it doesn't really seem to help. What can I do that is cheap and effective?
