Spas helping their local communities...

The essence of spa is ‘healing through water’, and Altira Spa Macau has taken this to another level by hosting hydrotherapy sessions for children from the Caritas Centro de Penha. It is an orphanage for kids with mental and physical disabilities who have been abandoned at a very young age. They range from 3-4 yrs old through 16. with physical and mental disabilities.

A small group of children go to the six star spa with their physical therapists, giving them a chance to enjoy the award winning swimming pool. "Moving in water really helps to expedite their development process" according to Faheem Ebrahim Spa Director. There is a continuous commitment from the spa to the orphanage and we are so excited to be able to support them. "We are so happy to be able to help in this way. The look on the children's faces says it all" says Faheem. "It would be wonderful for these children to be rehabilitated to the extent that later in their lives they will be able to be employed in some capacity and to become useful and happy members of society. With all of our help, this goal is more likely to be achieved".

How we can all help:

1. Donate money or raise funds doing a challenge such as a run, walk or adventure. They urgently need money for rehabilitation equipment such as waterproof diapers for the hydrotherapy, and equipment such as aerobic steps, bands, mats treadmills or exercise bikes.
2. Donate old exercise equipment at home that is in good condition (accessories or even larger pieces). Any help is sincerely appreciated by the children and the therapists.
